Areas we know best
The building stock we see most often, and what tends to go wrong in it.
North London
- IslingtonIslington is dominated by Georgian and early-Victorian terraces around Barnsbury, Canonbury and Highbury, most long since carved up into flats, with thick solid-brick party walls, half-landings and converted basement kitchen-diners that a single router by the front-door master socket was never going to reach.
- CamdenCamden mixes dense Victorian terraces with grand mansion blocks near Primrose Hill and Regent's Park, plus a fair amount of listed and conservation-area frontage that rules out running any cable up the outside of the building.
West London
- Kensington & ChelseaLarge stuccoed townhouses across four or five storeys plus a basement, and the mews properties tucked behind them, mean the sheer vertical and horizontal distance from a single hallway router is what defeats coverage here, not just the walls.
- RichmondRichmond's mix of period cottages, conservation-area terraces, riverside houses and larger detached homes with garden studios means every job is a slightly different shape, and a good number sit in protected areas where external cabling isn't an option.
South London
- WandsworthWandsworth runs from long Victorian terraces to newer riverside apartment blocks, and it's the loft conversions and rear or side-return extensions built onto the older stock that create the far-corner dead zones we're most often called out for.
- ClaphamClassic Victorian terraces ring Clapham Common, most converted into upper and lower maisonettes or flats, with side-return and loft extensions added over the decades that push everyday living well beyond where the original router was ever sited.
